Biorepositories and the biobanking operations are undergoing a transformation on various levels including sample diversity, organizational profile, and sophistication of the technologies that are utilized. Transition from predominantly manual storage and data handling methods to automated hardware and data management systems is becoming a domain standard and is enabling practitioners to increase productivity and innovation. LiCONiC’s BiOLiX line of biosample storage uniquely addresses these developments with the most diverse and application responsive automated storage systems available. The event drew over 650 participants from all regions of the world, with Chinese delegates representing an unprecedented expansion of biobanking programs in China. Many delegates and ISBER officials took advantage of the opportunity to visit an important new installation of a Liconic STC series biobank system at the Ninth People’s Hospital in Shanghai.
